Conference Mission

The ICUP provides a forum for the sharing of ideas, information and research data on pests in the urban environment.

Every three years from 1993, presenters from around the world have come to introduce new information on pests, their impacts, and their management. The audience includes professionals in a range of disciplines, including academia, industry, and government agencies, while students are also positively welcomed. A core principle is the scientific focus of the meeting, with no commercial promotion. The Proceedings are published and available at the start of each conference, and the papers from all conferences are available in full on this website, to view and download.

Each ICUP is planned and administered by a local Organizing Committee, which encourages regional participation and builds the programme. This has resulted in successful conferences held in Europe, Asia, South America, and the U.S. The professional relationships built by moving the Conference venue around the world have sustained its value for 30 years.

ICUP is a non-profit and self-sustaining conference. It is organized and run by individuals that volunteer their time during the three years of planning. There is no paid administration, and everyone on the Conference Organizing Committee and the Executive Committee pays their registration fees. The budget-based registration fee is linked to every participant sharing the cost of the Conference. The Executive Committee manages its finances and provides strategic support for the conference, based on its constitution.
